What it is for
A lid-and-base box is assembled from a base and a lid — separate blanks; the catalogue lists the parts for which a die is in stock. The 425×335×77 mm size (11 L) is most often ordered by confectioneries, tea and coffee brands, cosmetics and supplement makers, and online stores for gift sets; food-grade board is chosen for food contact. Offset printing with lamination or varnish; a window, foil stamping or a tray insert can be added.
This construction works differently from a standard lid-and-base box: the lid and the base are identical and come off the same die, while the second element is an insert — a few millimetres smaller around the perimeter — that sits inside and gives the whole box its rigidity. That insert is what makes 300 g/m² board workable here: on its own, a sheet of this weight would sag across a 425×335 mm panel, but the insert acts as an inner frame and the walls keep their shape. We use this scheme where the contents are soft and do not support the walls by themselves — folded textiles, garments, towels, homeware sets; for heavy or rigid items a construction with a thick-board base is the better choice. Printing on 300 g board lays down evenly, the coated face gives a clean white ground, and the material also takes hot-foil stamping well. Both halves and the insert ship flat and are assembled before packing, with no special equipment. The die was made in 2021, and a repeat run starts straight from your artwork.
