Cardboard bag with a lid for coffee products: premium packaging with silver metallized lamination and foil stamping
This vertical cardboard bag with a lid, sized 300×250×100 mm and made for coffee products, is an example of premium packaging where the design is built entirely on finishing technologies, with no printing. The colour specification is 0+0: neither side is printed — the entire visual identity is created by metallized lamination and hot foil stamping.
Structurally, it is a bag with a one-piece flap lid covering the full width of the opening and a folding bottom: flat when folded, the bag takes a stable three-dimensional shape when filled. It is die-cut from a single 713×383 mm blank using an individually made cutting die. The print house keeps a library of over 3,000 ready-made cutting dies — a client can choose an existing structure and save on tooling or, as in this project, order a custom-developed design.
The base material is GC2 cellulose cardboard, 250 g/m². The face of the sheet is laminated with glossy silver metallized film: the surface takes on a mirror-like metallic look while gaining protection against abrasion and moisture. On top of the lamination, the brand’s logo and slogan were hot-stamped with matte silver foil on automated equipment, using an individually made die.
The silver-on-silver technique — matte stamping on a glossy metallized surface — is characteristic of premium packaging: the image reads through the contrast of textures rather than colour and changes with the angle of light. The packaging stays strict and monochrome, yet it is perceived as an expensive, high-status product — here the finishing fully replaces full-colour printing. For coffee products this is a particularly fitting choice: premium coffee packaging traditionally relies on restrained, metallic design that emphasizes the quality of the product.
Custom cardboard packaging with metallized lamination, foil stamping and individual die-cutting is produced in Chișinău at our own full-cycle facility: from structural design and die-making to finishing, die-cutting and assembly of the finished product. Premium cardboard bags with lids — for coffee, tea and other products — are available with delivery across Moldova.
