Designer paper bag with gold foil stamping: premium packaging for a jewelry brand

A paper bag with ribbon handles is the finishing element of brand packaging: it is what the customer carries out of the store, and it keeps working for the brand after the purchase. This case study by the Pergament printing house (Chișinău, Moldova) features a compact bag for a jewelry brand, built on the combination of textured designer paper and gold foil.

Format and construction

The bag measures 160×140×50 mm — a “jewelry” format suited to small gift boxes with jewelry and accessories. The construction is composite: the body is formed from a single 442×213 mm blank, and the bottom is reinforced with a separate cardboard insert, so the bag keeps its shape and does not sag under the weight of the contents. The handles are made of white grosgrain ribbon 25 mm wide: a dense textile ribbon with a fine transverse rib that feels pleasant in the hand and supports the premium character of the product.

Material and finishing

The bag is made of white designer paper with a pronounced embossed texture, 240 g/m². No full-colour printing is used: the entire identity rests on a single accent — the logo applied by hot foil stamping in gold. Foil stamping produces a true metallic shine that cannot be reproduced with ink, and combined with clean textured paper it creates the recognizable look of premium packaging — a solution in demand for jewelry, cosmetics and gifts.

Tooling: cutting die and stamping die

The blank is die-cut using a cutting die. The Pergament library holds more than 3,000 ready-made cutting dies: for typical bag and box formats an existing shape can often be found, saving the client the cost of new tooling; for non-standard constructions a die is developed individually. The logo in this order was stamped with an existing die made earlier for a box of the same design: stamping dies, like cutting dies, are stored at the printing house and reused — extending a line of brand packaging with a unified look is cost-effective.
